"I was born with scoliosis (it’s indeed something you’re born with). Since I can remember I’ve been working out to avoid back pain. However, in 2010 I got too busy with my work and family life, stopped exercising properly, and developed a bad back/sciatic pain. Everyday I had to take painkillers to be able to get up. After months like that, an osteopath told me I had to start working out again, in a serious manner; it was the only way to stop the back problem to get worse. This is when Adam came into my life to help me. My husband was training with him already and suggested me to do the same. Adam came up with a special plan for me, taking into account my scoliosis. In a couple of weeks, I not only got rid of the pain but I was able to run. We left New Zealand in 2011, but I still run, at least three times a week. Next year, when I’m turning 50, I’ll run my first half-marathon. So, thank you, Adam. The good habits I learnt with you are still here! (Patricia, 48 years old)."

  • "Cadence Conditioning helped me prepare for the Miss World 2015 competition which was held in China. Cadence Conditioning’s approach to training meant that I left New Zealand the fittest and most confident I had ever been, AND, I really enjoyed the process of getting fit! Thanks so much Cadence Conditioning for being instrumental in my placement in the top 15 out of 120 countries – I couldn’t have done it without you!"

  • I came across Adam Steinmetz’s myofascial release treatment when I was desperate to make any sort of reduction in back pain caused by structural scoliosis. I realised that frequent pain and discomfort was having a restrictive affect on my daily activities and I was in a impasse in knowing how to manage my condition. I had been a swimmer and practised yoga but even doing these activities regularly weren’t able to safeguard me from “putting my back out” and life was a cycle of activity followed by chronic pain and limited movement. Right away Adam was able to help alleviate pain and he devised a program that combined the freeing up of tight areas through myofascial release, with supporting exercises to get areas functioning again and build up atrophied muscle. Due to the lack of normal symmetry and other injuries over years, the functional scoliosis component – on top of the structural – is what we are currently working on to reduce.
Because of Adam’s ongoing, skilful assessment and customised treatment I have extended times without any pain and am enjoying being stronger with the ability to move more freely than I have for a very long time. I value Adam’s analytical approach and that all of the specialist training experience and knowledge that he brings to his practise. Each session we add a few more specific exercises to make them more challenging and to keep up the progression. The exercises are achievable and I have faith that what he prescribes is exactly what I need even if they are hard work and feel weird! Committing to a daily home based individual exercise programme is key for me. An improvement in my back and getting closer to my goals the best the motivation, as is working with someone who makes such an effort and is passionate for how the human body can function as optimally as individually possible. I now have faith in my own abilities to heal and I'm excited about where this is going to take me. Thanks Adam!

  • "Half Marathon Hopeful – Running Performance After competing in two half marathons with some above average times, I decided to get some assistance with my running with the goal of improving my times. I asked around if anybody knew of a good running coach and Adam’s name came up a couple of times. I signed up with Adam on his 4-week Cadence conditioning programme and then moved into weekly PT sessions. Adam not only taught me how to run more efficiently but how to train properly and how to race properly. He tailored my programme and rehab sessions to suit me and the way I run. Over the course of right months under Adam’s tutoring, I shaved off considerable time in two half marathons and felt the strongest and fastest I have ever felt."

  • "I run because I love it, I feel healthy and strong, also I like to eat and it’s necessary to burn excess, I like a challenge and to compete to myself. Even if there is some pain attached, you will feel great. “By 2009 I was already running and had particular motivation, but my goal at the time was to run for the first time a full marathon on my fortieth birthday (in 2010). I can tell you it’s not an easy task and I was stuck, literally, around 20 km and cannot move forward than that. “Thanks to Adam´s help, by the end of 2010 I finally did it! In a very comfortable way (It was Auckland Marathon – AM – in 3:50 hours). And after that run I did 11 marathons more all around the world! “I remember the AM vividly, there was a lot of stress and calculations but the training was solid, like money in the bank. As everybody can imagine: I couldn´t have done it without Adam on my side. Every part of the training, every exercise was designed in order to reach the goal and make me a marathon runner. “After working together everything looked easier, even though I never reached the same times (I had to move from NZ because of work), I reckon you start learning how to train yourself. This is Adam, and this is Cadence. I wish I´m in Wellington again to participate. “Always grateful. “Pedro Marotta (47 and proud to be running)"
